Ms. Mitzman received her J.D., Cum Laude, from Fordham University (New
York City) in 1987, where she was a member of the Fordham Law Review and
graduated in the top ten percent of her class. In 1985, she published
Limited Partnership Interests as Securities Under Article 8 of the U.C.C.,
54 Ford. L. Rev. 125 (October 1985). She was on the Dean's List seven
times and was the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award for
Bankruptcy.
Upon graduating from law school in 1987, Ms. Mitzman joined the New York
firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges as a real estate associate. In 1989,
Ms. Mitzman moved to the Bay Area where she worked for Cooley, Godward,
Castro, Huddleson and Tatum in its Palo Alto office. At Cooley, Godward,
Ms. Mitzman was primarily responsible for representing high-tech and
biotech clients in facilities leasing transactions. In November, 1990,
Ms. Mitzman joined Stein & Lubin, LLP (formerly Stein Lubin & Lerner), where she practiced real estate and general business law for
four and one-half years. At Stein & Lubin, Ms. Mitzman represented
numerous banks, commercial property owners and real estate developers in
all facets of real estate leasing, acquisition, disposition and finance.
Ms. Mitzman left Stein & Lubin in May, 1995 to start her own law
practice.
Among other affiliations, Ms Mitzman is a member of the California State Bar's sections on
Business Law and Real Property Law; the Bar Association of San Francisco's Real Estate,
Commercial Law and Bankruptcy sections, and the Alameda County Bar Association's Real Estate
and Business Law sections. Ms. Mitzman is an Articles Editor for the California Real Property
Journal; she recently co-authored Chapter 8, Early Termination Rights, in the recently
published "Retail Leasing" book, part of California Continuing Education of the Bar's Commercial
Leasing Series. Ms. Mitzman also served as an update author for "Ground Lease Practice,"
another CEB publication.
Ms. Mitzman is also a volunteer judicial arbitrator under
Judge Julia Spain’s Alameda County ADR Program.
